HSA was praised by U.S. News and World Report in 2007. The list names 1,600 of the nation’s 18,000 high schools. The article recognized specific schools based on factors such as standardized tests, performance of disadvantaged students, and number of seniors taking and passing college level Advanced Placement exams.
